The Piston Bird.

The bird earns its name by the piston, or hammer action of its head it uses to stun and sometimes kill its prey. Possibly the fastest land animal in Oasis, the piston bird has been known to hunt man.

365 Project, Day 75

Sky Squid.

They live in the great grass lands that surround the Father Trees and graze on the grass.  They're able to float based on the generation of gasses in a large bladder that takes up most of their body.  One interesting fact is how they survive the severe wind storms that flow through the grass lands.  They're able to release some of their gasses, allowing them to sink into the fields and then they can grasp the roots with their tentacles, anchoring themselves down.

365 Project, Day 74

The Camel Beetle.

Considered a delicacy among some of the tribes of "The Tree Guardians." They carry a large amount of moisture in their carapace, which ends up having a slight sour taste.  They're eaten alive since cooking them allows the liquid to leak out or boil away.

365 Project, Day 73

Dragon Lizard. 

These little guys live mostly on the cliffs bordering the Badlands and Sulfuric Desert of Oasis. They feed on a diet of insects. The large spines and flaps of skin allow the lizard to leap off the cliff in order to catch some of the flying insects and also to escape predators. The large webbed feet and tail fin allow the lizard extreme agility in the air, even though they are only gliders.

Ah, but here's the rub, man. You have to actually THINK about what goes in there once you open it up and be willing to throw any shit away that doesn't ring true.

365 Project, Day 71

Johnson's Flitlicker.  The name is a bit of a misnomer, for the bird neither flits nor licks. It merely hops up and down branches and uses its over-sized beak to crush the hard carapaces of the bark beetles it favors.

365 Project, Day 70

The Alynx.  It looks very similar to a giraffe but is actually much closer to felines of Earth. It has developed it's extraordinary long neck to hunt the birds higher in the trees and the other flying creatures on Oasis. It also has an extremely fast tongue that can flash out much like a chameleon. A truly remarkable creature.
